Internship Positions

Social Media Assistant

As Social Media Intern at Women’s Medical Respite, you’ll learn about and take part in many of our social media marketing initiatives. You’ll be mentored to help develop, implement, track, and optimize social media campaigns across multiple platforms. With guidance, you’ll monitor all our social media channels, measure their success, and learn how our social media marketing strategy supports our overarching business goals.

You’ll work alongside our Executive Director and Organizational Developer to craft beautiful and compelling stories for social media campaigns. Ultimately, you and the team will make sure our message reaches our target audience so that Women’s Medical Respite can enter the next stage of growth. For this internship position, we offer a flexible schedule, personal growth coaching, mentoring, and opportunities to participate in company meetings and networking events.

Who We’re Looking For

  • You have a degree or are currently working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Marketing, Social Media Management or related field.

Accounting Assistant

We are looking for a driven Accounting Intern with a basic understanding of bookkeeping and financial principles and terms who is ready for an immersive, real-world experience. Under the supervision of our staff, the Accounting Intern can expect to participate in the preparation of journal entries and financial reports, analyze actual financial data, learn more about bookkeeping software, and assist with other accounting activities.

You should be a motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking. To be a strong candidate for an Accounting Internship, you should possess an understanding of accounting and financial principles and a positive attitude. You should be collaborative, trustworthy, receptive to feedback, and eager to learn.

Document & Contracts Assistant

This position offers a participant a valuable and exciting opportunity to gain real-world experience in procurement and contracts within the Advocacy sector. The selected intern will have the ability to learn, grow and collaborate with various project teams, consultants, vendors, and senior management.

The selected intern will experience challenging work assignments, gain insights in various improvements and initiatives and build a network in their chosen career field. Guidance and training will be provided by our senior executives. Whoever is selected will also assist with updating and organizing contract tracking files for various types of contracts and grants.

Who We’re Looking For

  • You have experience with the software included in the Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite, particularly word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs.

Web Design Assistant

As a Web Design Intern at Women’s Medical Respite, the chosen candidate will work alongside our team to create a more organized and visually appealing website as well as manage the current professional website. You will brainstorm, design, and implement website layouts using design software tools like WordPress or Squarespace.

The candidate will also have the opportunity to work on HTML and CSS code and collaborate with our team to ensure that the designs are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and responsive. Candidates will collaborate with the design team to brainstorm website design concepts and create wireframes and prototypes and implement designs using HTML, CSS, and React code. The intern will also assist in the management of website SEO.

  • You’re highly creative with strong attention to detail.
  • You have a degree or are currently working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, or a related field.
  • You have a strong portfolio that showcases your design skills.
  • You have experience using design software tools and software.
  • You understand SEO techniques and best practices.

Marketing Assistant

As Marketing Intern at Women’s Medical Respite, you’ll learn about and take part in many of our marketing initiatives. You’ll be mentored to help develop, implement, track, and optimize marketing campaigns across multiple platforms. With guidance, you’ll write copy for promotional emails and other marketing collateral and assist in the creation of written, video, and image content for marketing channels.

You’ll learn how we measure our marketing campaign success and how our marketing strategy supports our overarching business goals. You’ll work alongside our Executive Director and Organizational Developer while participating in marketing brainstorming sessions. Ultimately, you and the team will make sure our message reaches our target audience so that Women’s Medical Respite can enter the next stage of growth. For this internship position, we offer a flexible schedule, personal growth coaching, mentoring, and opportunities to participate in company meetings and networking events.

Who We’re Looking For

  • You have a knowledge and understanding of basic marketing principles, including familiarity with various social media platforms.

Public Relations Assistant

As Public Relations Intern at Women’s Medical Respite, you’ll learn about and take part in many of our marketing initiatives. Participants can expect hands-on experience like attending PR calls or networking events and offering insights. You’ll be mentored to help develop and write stories about client experiences and our Respite that could be shared on social media to help gain PR attention for press releases. With guidance, you’ll research podcasts and news outlets that can be utilized to share stories about Women’s Medical Respite.

You’ll learn how we measure our marketing campaign success and how our Public Relations strategy supports our overarching business goals. You’ll work alongside our Executive Director and Organizational Developer while participating in PR and marketing brainstorming sessions. Ultimately, you and the team will make sure our message reaches our target audience so that Women’s Medical Respite can enter the next stage of growth. For this internship position, we offer a flexible schedule, personal growth coaching, mentoring, and opportunities to participate in company meetings and networking events.

Who We’re Looking For

Technical Writing in Advocacy Assistant

As Technical Writing Intern at Women’s Medical Respite, you’ll learn about technical documentation and concepts adopted by our company. You’ll be mentored to help develop and assist in creating high-quality documentation, guides, manuals, and tutorials. Our interns should expect to collaborate with the technical writing team to get a basic understanding of the documentation requirements and specifications. With guidance, you’ll write copy for technical documents and review and update documentation when required.

You’ll learn how we edit and proofread all technical documents and how our technical documentation supports our overarching business goals. You’ll work alongside our executives while participating in brainstorming sessions with the development team to figure out how to simplify technical information for end-users. Ultimately, you and the team will make sure our technical documentation is better managed so that Women’s Medical Respite can enter the next stage of growth. For this internship position, we offer a flexible schedule, personal growth coaching, mentoring, and opportunities to participate in company meetings and networking events.

Who We’re Looking For

  • You have a knowledge and understanding of basic technical writing concepts and the subject matter.

  • You have a degree or are currently working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in English, Information Management, Technical Writing, Communications, or a related field.
  • You’ve completed introductory courses in technical writing or communications.

Advocacy Executive Assistant

As Executive Assistant at Women’s Medical Respite, you’ll act as a liaison between staff members and executive leaders to ensure important information is relayed, escalated issues are flagged and resolved, and mediocre matters are solved by appropriate parties. You’ll participate in standard advisory duties such as sending emails and other electronic correspondences, faxing, copying, scheduling, and running errands. With guidance, the assistants will write, draft, and edit important data such as documents, reports, proof letters, and memos. Interns will be mentored on how to maintain a professional and candid demeanor to ensure you are behaving in a manner that is in alignment with executive image and company reputation and brand.

You’ll learn how we formulate and/or classify various types of materials, financial documents, and business plans, and the team will be tasked to have them readily available for important executive meetings. Our assistants keep an organized schedule of events, meetings, travel itineraries, conference calls, and other communications to confidently debrief executives on such plans. Chosen applicants also are instructed on the procedures for electronic filing of documents. Ultimately, you and the team will be responsible for any tasks that support our executives so that Women’s Medical Respite can enter the next stage of growth.   • You’re proficient with the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and common scheduling software such as Outlook.
  • If you have previous experience with the use of Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro) and social media management tools (Hootsuite, Sprout Social) we consider it a plus!
